- Reef-safe—does not harm corals, making it a good choice for reef aquariums.
Diet & Feeding:
- Herbivorous—requires a diet rich in marine algae.
- Feed multiple times daily with:
- Dried or fresh seaweed (nori)
- Spirulina-based flakes and pellets
- Vegetable-based frozen foods
- Occasionally accepts mysis shrimp and brine shrimp, but plant matter should dominate.
Additional Care Tips:
- Less aggressive than many other tangs, making it a great choice for community saltwater tanks.
- Prone to marine ich and lateral line erosion—keep water quality high and provide a vitamin-enriched diet.
- Needs plenty of swimming space and hiding spots to feel secure.
- One of the best tangs for beginners, as it is hardier and less aggressive than species like the Powder Blue or Clown Tang.
