Tank Size:
  • Minimum 125 gallons for a single adult
  • Larger tanks (180+ gallons) recommended for multiple rabbitfish or a community setup
Water Parameters:
  • Temperature: 74-82°F (23-28°C)
  • pH: 8.1-8.4
  • Salinity: 1.020-1.026 SG
  • Ammonia & Nitrites: 0 ppm
  • Nitrates: Below 20 ppm (sensitive to poor water quality)
Tank Setup:
  • Plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding
  • Moderate to strong water flow to replicate reef environments
  • Open swimming space as it is an active fish
Tank Mates:
  • Generally peaceful, but may become territorial
  • Best with similarly sized, non-aggressive fish
  • Avoid aggressive predators that may harass it
Diet & Feeding:
  • Primarily herbivorous, requiring a diet rich in marine algae, seaweed (nori), and herbivore pellets
  • May help control algae growth in aquariums
  • Can also accept occasional meaty foods like mysis shrimp
