Tank Setup:
- Plenty of swimming space, as it is an active, open-water swimmer
- Live rock for grazing and establishing territory
- Strong water flow to mimic natural reef currents
- Secure lid, as it may jump when stressed
Tank Mates:
- Best kept as the only tang in the tank due to its aggressive nature
- Compatible with larger, semi-aggressive fish that can hold their own
- Avoid other Acanthurus tangs to prevent territorial disputes
Diet & Feeding:
- Primarily herbivorous, requiring a diet rich in marine algae, seaweed (nori), and spirulina
- Will also accept high-quality herbivore pellets and frozen foods
- Feed multiple times per day to maintain health and reduce aggression
